SSA Terminals signs for new terminal in Oakland

      Stevedoring Services of America Terminals (SSAT), has signed a letter of intent for a new container terminal now under construction at the Port of Oakland. The Oakland Board of Commissioners-approved, 150-acre facility is scheduled toin early 2002. The terminal's annual capacity is expected to be over 600,000 TEUs.
      Located at Berths 57-58, in Oakland's middle harbor, the facility will feature 3,600 feet of continuos berth which will be dredged down to 50 feet. The terminal will also feature six ZPMC post-Panamax cranes, now under construction in Shanghai, China.
