I found a sample essay, possibly better custom term paper. I received excellent.
With West Coast waterfront employer-labor negotiations looming in early-to-mid 2001, the 51-year-old, San Francisco-based Pacific Maritime Association elected, in late October, a new board of directors and voted to amend its bylaws, which includes merging the board of directors with its Coast Executive Committee.
"As the industry has changed, our internal organization has needed to change, and we are delighted with the enthusiasm our newly-elected Board members have for the achievement of technology implementation and the overall success of the industry," said PMA President and CEO Joseph Miniace.
Technological improvements on the waterfront are predicted to be one of the biggest issues to arise at next year's negotiations, which the industry-sponsored PMA is hoping will pave the way towards a more modern, tech-oriented labor contract. The current West Coast longshore contract will expire in July, 2002. James Spinosa, the newly-elected International Longshore Workers Union president, has said he will represent a more progressive voice for his organization on technology issues.
The PMA's new board of directors has nine members representing three classes of membership. They are: the domestic carrier class, international carrier class and the stevedore-non-carrier class.
The new PMA Board of Directors are as follows: Captain James Chien, senior vice president, Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan) Ltd.; William A. Hamlin, vice president - operations (Americas), American President Lines, Ltd.; Joji "George" Hayashi, chairman, president and CEO, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (America) Inc.; Jon Hemingway, president, Stevedoring Services of America; Peter I. Keller, executive vice president, COO, NYK Line; Gary J. North, senior vice president - operations, Matson Navigation Company, Inc.; Charles G. Raymond, president and CEO, CSX Lines, LLC; Anthony Scioscia, president, Maersk Container Service Company; Ole A. Sweedlund, vice president/deputy managing director, Hanjin Shipping Co.; Douglas A. Tilden, president and CEO, Marine Terminals Corporation.
The PMA represents nearly 100 American and foreign flag shipping companies, stevedores and terminal operators.
