The Maryland Port Administration signed a 10-year agreement with the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). The port reports the MSC deal, which adds one port call each week - a direct service from the east coast of South America - at the Seagirt Marine Terminal, will guarantee a minimum of 350,000 containers over the next 10 years.
The MSC signing is the sixth major shipping company agreement signed with the port in the last eight months, which includes deals with Wallenius Wilhelmsen, UPM-Kymmene, Metsa-Serla, Volvo (American Port Services), Lloyd Triestino and HUA.
