| Americana Ships, Stevedoring Services of America and the city of Texas City, Texas have joined forces to dredge the deepest terminal on the U.S. Gulf Coast. The site, located in Glaveston Bay, will be 50 feet deep and offer 3,000 feet of berth, 240 acres of container yard, and 60 acres for on-dock rail transfer. The Port of Houston is also trying to expand its facilities, which are nearly at capacity, and Houston voters have approved a $387 million bond issue for a new container terminal at Bayport.
